Apple tablet PC rumour reappears

Citing "industry sources", Smarthouse claims Apple has built a "fully working prototype of a Mac tablet PC". The report adds that three Taiwanese firms are now bidding to manufacture the device, scheduled, it appears, to ship in mid-2007.

According to the report, the Intel-powered tablet has been designed to handle third-party applications, such as home automation software and security cameras, and boasts wireless connectivity.

The report claims the tablet to be a "fully-working PC", and reveals that Apple is currently testing new wireless speaker systems.

The device also has a docking station that lets users connect the tablet to HDMI-enabled screens; the dock also has its own built-in capacity for storing movies, or so it's claimed.
